The head of the parliamentary group of the Democratic Party, Enkelejd Alibeaj said the ruling majority is leading a “false process” in selecting the new president of the country.
In a statement to the press after the Conference of the Group of Chairpersons, he emphasized the first step should be to set out the selection criteria, in order to elect someone with integrity and simply go after names.
“Their goal is to delay the process, trouble the waters for the opposition, and then elect the president unilaterally”, said Alibeaj.
He added that the new president must be someone who is elected based on their virtues, fight for specific causes, and good reputation.
The opposition is demanding a process tailored by rules and criteria, he said and then taking the next step in deliberating on specific names.
