Former PM Sali Berisha has reacted following the appointment of the new judge that will be reviewing an appeal made by DP’s caucus leader Enkelejd Alibeaj.
Alibeaj presented his case at the Court of Appeals, after disputing the legitimacy of the party’s statute, adopted during an Assembly called by Sali Berisha back in December 2021.
Through a post on his social media, Berisha argued that the statement made by the Court of Appeals, 2 hours before the draw which would select the new judge, only serves to prove PM Edi Rama’s political interference in this case.
In addition, the former PM accused the US ambassador Yuri Kim of an unlawful and anti-constitutional intervention.
According to Berisha, Tirana’s District Court hasn’t given DP a copy of the final verdict made by Judge Blerina Muca, who returned the case for retrial.
Berisha argued that this is a flagrant violation of the law of the land.
Elona Toro will be the judge who will be in charge of Alibeaj’s appeal. Toro was reported to have been appointed after a draw held earlier today.
The draw also determined the other members of the judicial panel, namely Edlira Petri and Genti Shala.
