Cultural tourism in Shkodra was one of the sectors that were paralyzed during the first two years of the pandemic.
2019 marked a good year for the city, but figures from 2022 show a growing tendency among those who want to visit Shkodra.
One of the most preferred activities from both local and foreign tourists is visits to the museum, as a way to learn more about the city’s historical past.
However, the top spot for tourists remains the Rozafa Castle. In the first four months of 2022, the castle welcomed over 10,000 visitors more than in the same period in 2019.
Foreigners are amazed by the beauty Shkodra has to offer.
“It is my first time here. Shkodra is a beautiful place and its history dates back to centuries ago”, said Antoni, a tourist from Russia.
“I’ve been in Shkodra before, but this is the first time that I stay for a longer period of time. It is a beautiful city, with a lot of tourist attractions”, said Mateus from Slovenia.
The head of the Cultural Heritage Regional Directorate, Besara Podgorica, says tourist attention has shifted mainly toward cultural and archeological sites this year.
Also, she confirmed that the tourist season will be officially open on May 29.
