The Albanian Parliament will convene this Monday at 6 PM after the opposition failed to nominate a candidate for president.

The parliamentary commission on legal affairs held a brief meeting on Monday morning after seeing that the opposition had not submitted any potential candidates.

The next meeting will be announced after an official decision from the Conference of the Chairpersons.

Last Tuesday, the Conference of the Chairpersons ruled to have the names of the candidates submitted at the Assembly by 4 PM, together with the respective signatures of 20 MPs for each.

But as political parties could not find a common language, the entire second round failed.

This round and the third require 84 votes. In the case no one is proposed on the third round either, then the ruling majority has the right to appoint the president.
