The 14th edition of Aulona Interfolk Festival took place in Vlore this week, with a focus on history and folklore.

This year, 14 groups from 7 different countries went on stage with performances that showcased their national heritage and traditions.

Festival participants said that different aspects of their country’s folklore and traditions have been collected through the years and are being carefully curated in order to be granted their well-deserved place in each country’s national heritage.

“We are a single-family. Since I was young, I wanted to dance and I found my family in these folkloric dances. Rumanian folkloric dances are very beautiful and I believe that we have to follow in the footsteps of our elders. We like this tradition because it is something that we have been doing for a long time in our country and we want to pass it on to our children,” – said one of the artists.

The artistic director of this festival, Sejmen Gjokoli, said to Euronews Albania that this is one of the most important cultural events in the city of Vlora that has brought about important elements of cooperation while also enriching what the city has to offer to tourists.

Aulona Interfolk Festival accompanies the opening of the tourist season in Vlore.

Bulgaria, Kosova, Moldova, Montenegro, Rumania, Switzerland and Albania were among the participants this edition.
