Over half of citizens under the age of 18 in Albania are at risk of going hungry.
There are over 304 thousand minors who live in low-income families in Albania and who risk going under the poverty line.
This is also the highest number of at-risk youths in all of Europe, as Albania ranks first in terms of the level of poverty as well as the risk of going under the poverty line.
Albania is followed by Montenegro and Turkey, whereas the countries with the best social conditions for youths is the Czech Republic and Slovenia.
“The risk of becoming poor or social exclusion’ refers to individuals who are struck by at least 1 of these 3 issues: income poverty, material or social deprivation, and low job opportunities.
The point that separates the poor from others is the possession of $5.5 dollars a day.
On a population scale, youth under the age of 18 make up the largest group who risk suffering from famine or other material resources whereas the age group over 65 years old is at a lower risk due to their monthly retirement benefits.
