Leaders from the Open Balkan initiative will meet this Tuesday and Wednesday in the city of Ohrid in North Macedonia.
A first will be the participation of Montenegro after Prime Minister Dritan Abazovic responded positively to the invitation.
The Open Balkan has expanded to 4 states, Albania, North Macedonia, Serbia, and Montenegro.
Kosovo Prime Minister Albin Kurti has turned down an invitation from Macedonian premier Dimitar Kovacevksi, reiterating the country’s stance against the regional initiative.
In a letter sent to the Kovacevski, Kurti says that Kosovo is only committed to the Berlin Process.
Open Balkan is the successor of an initiative previously called Balkan mini-Schengen, introduced by the leaders of Albania, North Macedonia, and Serbia in Novi Sad in early October 2019.
