Wildfires in Sazan Island and Mirdita extinguished, says Defense Ministry

The wildfires that had been ravaging the island of Sazan and the city of Mirdita, have been officially extinguished, confirmed the Ministry of Defense.

In addition, ministry officials stated that the fires across the Island of Sazan were completely neutralized after 3 days of continuous efforts by several rescue teams.

According to the defense ministry, a total of 122 officers from our National Armed Forces, along with 9 trucks and 2 ships were involved in the efforts to put out the major Sazan wildfires.

On Tuesday morning, intervention from the air began through the Canadair CL 415 plane commissioned from neighboring Greece.

Meanwhile, 54 officers from the Albanian Armed Forces joined the efforts to put out the fires that broke out in the northern Albanian region of Orosh in Mirdita.
