The fires at the Sazan Island have been extinguished, reported Euronews Albania correspondent in Vlora Ebrieta Macaj.
The blaze was put out four days after the outbreak. Strong winds were to blame for the fast spread of the fires which reportedly burned a considerable forest area with century-old pine trees.

A small group of firefighters and soldiers is still on the ground to monitor if there are any bushes emitting smoke.
Macaj said the aircraft used to put out the flames has returned to Greece, but confirmed that in case of another outbreak it will return to help.
After five days, touristic boats can safely head to the island however, it’s not confirmed whether tourists will be allowed on the island at the moment.
The cause of the fire has not been determined, yet.
