Kosovo’s PM Albin Kurti has refused an offer made by Serbian President Alexandar Vucic to exchange coal for electricity.
Kurti said that this offer comes in the framework of a failure of efforts to exchange territory.
“This is an effort of Serbia’s authoritarian president to move on from a failed project of exchanging territories to an exchange of coal. So, instead of Kosovo’s territory, he wants Kosovo’s coal. But, he needs to recognize Kosovo’s independence first, recognize the crimes committed during the war by Milosevic’s regime in Kosovo, and then they should distance themselves from the despotic president, Putin, apart from Milosevic, during whose regime [Vucic] was minister,” – said Kurti.
Kosovo’s PM also reiterated his stance against the regional Open Balkan initiative by saying that there needs to be equal treatment among the 6 Western Balkan countries.
While commenting on tomorrow’s visit of the German chancellor Olaf Scholz to Kosovo, Kurti said that he expects a new, energetic start of the Berlin Process.
