Austrian Ambassador Christian Steiner said on Friday that they are waiting on the verdict of the court to determine whether they will cooperate with Sali Berisha as the leader of the Democratic Party.

“We are following up on the developments. This is part of domestic policies, as a diplomat I cannot comment on that”.

“We need to see what the Court will have to say”.

“It’s imperative to us to have a strong opposition. We will wait and see the decision of the court”, said Ambassador Steinar.

In regards to the Open Balkan, Steiner said regional initiatives should not conflict with the standards set by the EU.

“Open Balkan is a regional initiative. In principle, these types of initiatives are good, but it is important that they comply with EU standards”, said the Austrian Ambassador to Tirana.
