Prime Minister Edi Rama declared on Monday that until a few years ago it was unimaginable for high-ranking officials to be punished by the newly reformed justice system.
His statement was made during the address at the first National Anti-Corruption Conference held at the Palace of Congresses in Tirana.
According to Rama, the new justice system is entirely segregated from politics.
“Who would have thought until a few years ago, that high-ranking politicians would get punished by justice in this country?”
According to the prime minister, Albania has clearly started to separate from the days when corruption had become embedded in all forms of citizen-state communication channels.
Albania has begun to separate very clearly from a stage where corruption was a system of citizen relations with the state in every contact with it
