EU’s Enlargement Commissioner, Oliver Varhelyi, stated that the European Union should decide to hold the first Intergovernmental Conference with Albania and North Macedonia.
“Welcome the cross-party decision of the Bulgarian parliament giving a clear mandate for the approval of the French proposal. Now we need EU’s decision to hold the first IGC with North Macedonia and Albania. Europe moves forward!” – wrote Varhelyi in a Twitter post.
This Friday, Bulgaria adopted the resolution which includes their acceptance of the French president, Emmanuel Macron’s proposal in regards to resolving the standstill between Bulgaria and North Macedonia.
During today’s plenum, the resolution was adopted with 170 votes in favor, 37 against and 21 abstentions.
