EU’s Special Envoy for the Kosovo-Serbia dialogue, Miroslav Lajcak, declared that the purpose of his visit in Prishtina and Belgrade was to set up a meeting between Serbian president Alexandar Vucic and Kosovo’s PM Albin Kurti in July.

In an interview for Nedelnik, Lajcak said that apart from the meeting between chief negotiators, there should also be a high-level meeting between officials from both nations.

Referring to the EU Summit in Brussels held 2 weeks ago, where representatives from the Western Balkans weren’t pleased with results, Lajcak said that it is crucial to have a successful regional cooperation.

“It is difficult to convince European leaders that you are ready to function in a family of 27-years if you already have issues in a family of 6,” – said Lajcak.

In regards to the Open Balkan regional initiative, Lajcak highlighted that the European Union is always welcoming of reginal cooperation.
