The US ambassador, Yuri Kim was invited to attend an event of the “American Chamber of Commerce”, where she commented on the cyber-attacks that have taken place in recent weeks in our country, now confirmed to have been carried out by the Iranian government.
Ambassador Kim said that some ill-wishers tried to undermine our faith in democracy. She also underlined that the US will help Albania to withstand these attacks.
“The US is here to help. We have helped with cyber measures. Because of the dependence of citizens on social media, we need partnership,” said Ambassador Kim.
Since 2021, Albania has fallen prey to several cyber-attacks.
A cyber-attack took place on July 15 this year, that blocked all official state websites and the e-Albania online services platform.
Meanwhile, on September 14, the TIMS system was attacked at all border points across the country. Albania has blamed Iran for these attacks and has since severed all diplomatic ties with this country.
