Activist Adriatik Lapaj clashed with Democratic MP Belind Kelliic in regard to the issue of opening up the race within this political force.
During his appearance on Euronews Albania’s ‘NOW’, Lapaj said that a politician from the opposition should not be afraid of opening the race, a statement which faced Kellici’s opposition.
The latter asked Lapaj to debate the issue, while Lapaj asked him not to make noise.
Excerpts from the debate:
Adriatik Lapaj: The opening of the race is necessary; an opposition should never be afraid of opening up the race. At the present moment, the opposition is afraid of the race.
Belind Kellici: Where do you see our fear?
Adriatik Lapaj: Let me finish
Belind Kellici: No, tell me. I’m right here in front of you.
Adriatik Lapaj: There should be an opening of the race at every single level. And this opening is done through the electoral law. The vote must be equal, be it in Kukes, in Sarandma or in Tirana.
Belind Kelliçi: This is a discussion topic for the electoral reform
Adriatik Lapaj: Let me finish, they have held you hostage, I was not an MP. The competition must be fair and square.
Adriatik Lapaj: You’re in the opposition and you’re just being a noisemaker, imagine if you were to come into power.
Belind Kelliçi: You are making noise because I am staying calm. Al you’re saying is untrue.
Adriatik Lapaj: No, no
Belind Kelliçi: As it turns out, the opposition is to blame, let’s discuss it
Adriatik Lapaj: Let me finish, we have nothing to discuss.
