A high number of tourists has been recorded even in September in the archaeological park of Apollonia. According to park employees, what is noticeable is the increase in the number of local visitors who choose to visit this park.

The newly built road has had an impact, as well as the post-pandemic times which have all contributed to an increase in the total number of visitors.

“Visitors come from different countries, but the increase in the number of Albanian visitors stands out. Benefiting from the new road that passes by, but also from the heightened interest for local visitors to get to know their country and its cultural heritage sites. In the total number, foreign visitors still dominate, but compared to previous years, a significant increase in local visitors has also been observed,” said Arian Dimo, park employee.

Visitors are attracted by the history but also by the architectural elements, the sculptures, and other artistic elements present in Apollonia Park, but above all Albanian hospitality, in general, is a distinctive point of attraction.

In recent years, archaeological parks have become key points for the tourism sector.

Only in 2021, from 141 thousand 547 visitors, more than 93 thousand were foreigners.
