Prime Minister Edi Rama denied that there was any pressure from Turkish President Erdogan to close the Turkish college in Tirana.
In a statement to the press after the meeting of the presidency on Tuesday, Rama said that the school in question violated the law by moving to another space without obtaining permission from the Ministry of Education.
“I have said it time and again; it is enough to refer to the facts, then there is always going to be those who like to fill you up with tales. If it was a political issue, why would we deal with a girls’ college? As we have done for every subject and you have not made any noise. It would be a violation of the law if the ministry did not react. The relocation of the school was done without obtaining any approval. The court decision confirmed it yesterday. I am not pressured by anyone, no politician here or abroad, Americans or Turks, because I am the prime minister of the Albanians who elected me”, said Rama.
