Journalist Bledi Fevziu said that he sees the meeting between the

US ambassador in Tirana Yuri Kim and the head of the Freedom Party Ilir Meta as support for the opposition.

In an interview for Euronews Albania, Fevziu, while commenting on the last interview with Kim, underlined that the opposition is disadvantaged in relation to the government and the reason for this, according to him, is the ‘non grata’ designation of Sali Berisha.

“A more critical look was needed in relation to the government’s attention to dirty money, fiscal amnesty, and on these points the ambassador was direct. It was a sort of reconfirmation of Russian funding, but it didn’t make anything public. The third issue was with the opposition’s point of view, and once again there was nothing new because the deadlock between the US and Berisha that is a result of the ‘non grata’ designation is known by now. That’s why the opposition appears to be disadvantaged in relation to the government. Such an imbalance is a big problem for the country. What Kim said in relation to the meeting with Ilir Meta, I saw as support for the opposition and not in relation to Meta”, said the journalist.
