As they had warned, university lecturers will hold a protest in Tirana, where they demand the fulfillment of several conditions in their universities.

Teacher Peter Saraci, in an interview for Euronews Albania, said that 80% of teachers in Shkoder are in favor of the protest, adding that the next day many of them will join the protest.

“We as a union have joined the protest in Tirana. We have decided that one of our representatives will travel to Tirana, where we will declare our support for the strike, and show the statistics of the petition. 80% of the teachers in Shkoder are in favor of the protest. There are several points for restoring the dignity of university employees.

Another lecturer Elior Vila said that even professors in Elbasan are in favor of the protest.

“Taking into consideration the demands, or the points defined by the union, we see that they are quite realistic demands, starting with salary increases, support for scientific research, payment of supplementary hours etc,” – said Vila.
