About 2,000 people have applied so far for recognition for the status of a victim of sexual violence in Kosovo.
Over 1,300 of them who testified before the Government Commission about the painful history of the years 98-99 have begun to receive compensation.
On the other hand, there are 244 women and men who were rejected by the commission, a number that is considered quite high.
Many survivors find it difficult to prove what happened to them, in cases where witnesses or health records are required.
The latter had been destroyed out of fear that they will be discovered by the family. This presents a double challenge for sexual assault survivors.
