Journalist Sara Demushi stated that lecturers in public universities demand over 200 euros so that the student can pass an exam.

In an interview for Euronews, Albania said that students, in addition to the costs of dormitories, rented homes, books and food, are also faced with paying for their exams.

“A colleague of mine made a post on social media where he asked students how much they paid for an exam. It is not about the student’s disability to pass that exam but rather it is the lecturer who is convinced that the student will only pass this exam if they pay for it. What was more frightening and revolting is that an exam started from 200 euros and up. This is terrible. We are talking about public universities. The student has to figure out how to pay for seasonal costs plus the cost for each exam, it’s preposterous,” she said.
