The special envoy of the United States for the Western Balkans, Gabriel Escobar, will stay in Prishtina on Wednesday, to hold meetings with the heads of state.
The news has been confirmed by the Office of the President of Kosovo, Vjosa Osmani, who will host Escobar on the morning of October 19, and a press conference has been announced after the meeting.
So far, Escobar’s meetings with other leaders have not been officially confirmed.
Escobar’s October 19th visit to Kosovo comes at a time when France and Germany are said to have offered a proposal to the leaders of Kosovo and Serbia, which could be a new framework for the dialogue between the two countries to reach a legally binding agreement that is mandatory for the normalization of reports.
According to the president of Serbia, Aleksandar Vucic, this proposal consists of his country allowing Kosovo to join international institutions and organizations, including the United Nations, in exchange for Serbia’s rapid EU membership.
