From January 1, 2023, online sports betting will reopen. This is announced in the draft budget of 2023, which foresees the reintroduction of online sports betting into the legislation.

Meanwhile, economic expert Klodian Muco has stated that sports betting has not helped sports.

In an interview for Euronews Albania, he emphasized that the bets will not even help the state budget, while he emphasized that it will be impossible to monitor them.

“Time has shown that sports bets and lotteries have not helped sports. I have the impression that betting will not help the state budget either. To monitor the part of online games is very difficult and almost impossible for a country like Albania.

The vast majority of bets will be played illegally and the income will be low. There is still a lot of uncertainty about how it will work, who will monitor it and how it will be monitored.

He further emphasized that: Some bets can be monitored in Albania, but not those that the centers have in other countries.
