Milorad Dodik is confirmed as president of Republika Srpska

The Central Election Commission of Bosnia and Herzegovina officially announced that after the recount of the votes, Milorad Dodik, head of the Alliance of Independent Social Democrats, won the votes to take the post of president of Republika Srpska.

“Regarding the original results of the General Elections for the level of President and Vice-President of the Republika Srpska, the recount control confirmed that Milorad Dodik is the candidate with the largest number of votes,” said the president of the Central Election Commission of Bosnia and Herzegovina. Suad Arnautovic.

Dodik won 48 percent of the votes while the other candidate, Jelena Trivic, from the opposition won 43 percent. The Republika Srpska is one of the three entities in Bosnia and Herzegovina.

The opposition has tried several times with the request that some people be prosecuted, including Dodik, who is subject to Western sanctions due to his activities for the separation of Republika Srpska from Bosnia.
