Iris is 10 years old. When she was born, her parents realized she had Down syndrome.
Hundreds of negative thoughts came to their mind. The question that tormented them the most was would they succeed? Their little daughter had the answer.
“She has challenges every day, a life full of commitments, sacrifices, pleasures. I didn’t think about it because every mother thinks that she wants a child with a perspective, but even with this child, we are very happy, she has achieved things that we thought she wouldn’t never achieve,” said Anila Hoxha, Iris’s mother.
One more chromosome does not change anything from other children. Iris is proof. She is the youngest daughter of the family.
“I raised a son before Iris, there is a 20-year difference, so I raised Iris as a normal child, with accountability requirements, no different from other children,” she said.
Iris’ day is full of activities, but for her the hours spent with her friends are the most favorite.
