The Democratic Party will be a divided force in the upcoming local elections that are set to take place on May 14 next year.
Although talks between the two parties have been going on for some time now, in order to come up with a common candidate, the negotiations have failed.
Through an announcement, the Parliamentary Group of the Democratic Party has stated that the other side has decided as a condition during the talks, that the “Statute of December 11” be recognized, which according to them, has undermined the talks to find a solution for the elections.
“Continuous rejection of every proposal made by us, including the final proposal presented in writing, is indicative of the lack of sincerity and the will to find a solution. This refusal proves the premeditation of not finding a solution and putting the other party in front of the committed fact”, the announcement states, among other things.
Based on this situation, the Parliamentary Group of the Democratic Party has requested to inform the Presidency of the Democratic Party, in order to pave the way for the creation of all conditions for the preparation and participation of this political force in the upcoming local elections.
