86-year-old Dylber Shuli from the village of Zagorcan in Pogradec is still waiting for his 5 granddaughters who have been in Syria for 9 years.

In October 2013, his son Krenari left for Syria, taking his wife and 3 children with him.

Euronews Albania journalist Xhensil Shkembi visited the family of the elderly man, who in an interview with the Now show in Euronews Albania, said that the month of October is very painful for him as his son left never to return.

“Don’t remind me, the last time we met was in October. He took his wife and three children and left. He told me that he would take them to school in Tirana. I spoke with im late at night. My granddaughter informed me in 2017 that her father was killed. Then they also killed their mother. Elona’s daughter asked us to take her,” said Shuli.

In addition, he said that he has not lost hope that one day he will be able to see his nieces and nephews. “Of course, I have hope, until the day I die”, claimed Shuli.
