The President of Kosovo, Vjosa Osmani, declared that she will do everything possible, so that the early elections in the north of the country, which are expected to be held on December 18, take place in coordination with the security institutions.

Through a statement to the press, Osmani said that the safety of citizens should be paramount and that their rights should be protected at all costs.

“Of course, other concerns, which exist, have also been discussed. As the president of the country, I will do my best to take all the steps in coordination with the security institutions, so that the safety of our citizens is primary and so that we protect their rights which are guaranteed by the Constitution, including the right to vote”, she emphasized.

The four mayors of municipalities in the north of Kosovo resigned from their positions, as a continuation of the actions of the Serbian List, which is opposing the decision of the Government of Kosovo on converting the Serbian license plates to ones of the Republic of Kosovo.

This action has paved the way for a snap election in these municipalities since according to a decision of the Constitutional Court, the mandate of each mayor ends with his resignation.
