The chairman of the Freedom Party, Ilir Meta, has slammed Prime Minister Edi Rama for the 2023 budget.
In a statement to the press, Meta said that Rama will give his clients, through concessions, 120 million euros a year, instead of supporting regular citizens.
Among other things, Meta underlined that Rama will give 1 billion euros for seven concessions.
“Instead of supporting the citizens, Edi Rama will give his clients 120 million euros in concessions in just one year. It foresees 130 million euros in taxes, additional taxes. The government will pay 30 million euros more than the current year for these PPP contracts. The total cost of debt service in 2023 would reach a record amount in 2023 at 136.4 billion ALL, or about 1.15 billion euros with an increase of 69% compared to 2022. The total cost of servicing the debt will be almost equal to the budget of the Ministry of Agriculture, the Ministry of Education and the Ministry of Health put together for the year 2023. 1 billion euros will be given for 7 concessions and the ‘golden’ roads worth one thousand and nine hundred million euros will carry on”, emphasized Meta.
