The director of the Albanian Electricity Corporation (KESH), Ergys Verdho, stated that in the Alps in the north of the country, in 12 hours, there was enough rain for 3 months and more.
In an interview for Euronews Albania, Verdho said that currently, the quota in Fierza is 274 meters, while the flows, together with Komani and Vau i Dejes, reached 4000m3/s.
“The water situation is good for the Fierza basin, where we have had a 5-6 meter increase in the energy reserve. We are talking about quotes from 266 meters from last Monday, to 274 as we speak. The main issues have come as a result of the small basins that we have, Koman and Vau i Dejes, which have small reserve capacities compared to the large amount of rain that falls. The Alps of Albania suddenly received 400 mm of rain in 12 hours. This amount of rainfall is the same as the amount of rainfall for 3 months and even more. We are talking about a flow somewhere in 3500 m3 only in the Koman and Vau i Dejes basins and 500 m3 in the Fierza basin. A flow of 4000m3/s. In 2010, it was 3200 m3/s”, he reported.
