EU ambassador in Albania, Christiane Hohnannin, stated that they are in constant communication with the government regarding the port of Durres.

“Every time there is a change in the approval of grants for investments, then this is canceled, but it does not mean that we are not in communication with the government,” Hohnann said.

The investment in the port of Durres has prompted the reaction of the opposition, which calls it the biggest theft in Albanian history and compares it to the affair of the incinerators.

Hohnann replaced Luigi Soreca as the new EU ambassador to Albania. She is currently Germany’s ambassador to Estonia and previously served as German ambassador to Bosnia and Herzegovina.

In 2016 Christiane Hohmann replaced Christian Hellbach as Ambassador of the Federal Republic of Germany.
