Jubleta or xhubleta is already part of the world’s intangible cultural heritage under the protection of UNESCO.

The traditional dress of the women of the Northern Albanian Highlands, more than 4 thousand years old, is already part of the wealth of all of humanity.

The Minister of Culture Elva Margariti, in an interview for Euronews Albania, said that the work to introduce the festival to UNESCO had started in 2019.

Margariti emphasized that it was the high risk of losing the jubleta that prompted them to take the case to UNESCO.

“It was very good news. Today, the jubleta belongs to all humanity. We had started this work in 2019, in 2020 we managed to have the file in our hands. It has been a long work, of many groups and many collaborators. I want to appreciate the contribution of the Albanian Development Fund, which has supported us in this initiative of ours, which has been unique in its kind. It was the high risk of loss that pushed us to push the first file forward. We are preparing several other files,” she said.
