Prime Minister Edi Rama, during his speech at the Brussels summit, said that the Russian influence is real in the region and that the Balkans must stay together in face of such danger.

The head of the Albanian government also underlined that Serbia is also involved, but has not imposed sanctions against Russia yet.

Rama’s full remarks:

If you invite people from the Balkans, you should give them time to talk endlessly. Everyone can leave in the end, we’ll still be talking, because freedom of speech was so forbidden where we come from, we come from actual hell. You can’t imagine that hell.

What Abazi said has to do with weaknesses, and vulnerabilities, in their countries the Russian influence is present and the Russian danger is real. In Albania, no one cares about Russia anymore because they had Stalin until 1990. They got rid of him before, now he is entering through the back door, that is why the region must be kept together and stay together, together with the entire region.

We must be together, it is very essential that Serbia is involved so far, not fully, when we talk about things like sanctions. When it comes to us, there is no problem, they can let us in, they can leave us at the door. We won’t give up, you can leave us at the door but we won’t give up. Don’t tell us all the time that we want to get married but we don’t want to talk because that’s crazy. Let’s talk for a while then get married, I’m married by the way. I know it can go very well in a cohabitation until marriage. Now we need to create approach mechanisms that are not contingent on individual tasks.
