On Wednesday, Kosovo signed the application document for membership in the European Union.

The official launch of this procedure was marked by a solemn ceremony held in Osmani’s presidential office where the signatures on the document were provided by the three heads of state, President Vjosa Osmani, Prime Minister Albin Kurti and Speaker of Parliament Glauk Konjufca.

This was followed by a prompt reaction from the president of Serbia, Aleksandar Vucic, who said through a video message on social media that “he has asked the West to tell him which of the 5 or 6 important documents they want Serbia to respect”.

“The Kumanova Agreement, the UN Charter, Resolution 1244, the Brussels Agreement or the Washington Agreement. We have come to the sixth very important EU document from 2003, the famous Thessaloniki document, for EU expansion in the Western Balkans. And in light of Kosovo’s EU membership submission, my question is whether they will respect the documents they brought themselves, even the historical one from Thessaloniki, because in point 5 of the Thessaloniki document, it is said that it fully supports the implementation of the Resolution 1244. So, my question today is which of these six documents do you want to respect and we will absolutely agree”, said Vucic.
