The Kosovo police said that they are conducting the necessary investigations related to the information and media reports about the kidnapping of some Serbian citizens in the north of Kosovo.

The police said that they are treating these cases “seriously”, writes REL.

“In the past few days, there have been information, reports, and publications in the media regarding the kidnapping, beating, and ill-treatment of some Serbian citizens by members of criminal structures in the northern part of the Republic of Kosovo”, said the announcement of the Kosovo Police.

The police did not reveal how many people were allegedly kidnapped or mistreated and when these incidents took place.

However, law enforcement said that the tensions in the north of Kosovo, inhabited by a majority of Serbs, require the raising of police capacities to manage the security situation and to prevent “criminal activities”.
