Albania has started to export meat to Saudi Arabia.
The news was shared by the Minister of Agriculture and Rural Development Frida Krifca, who acknowledged the great work done by the relevant structures that were involved in opening this new market.
“After strong institutional work in the certification procedures of “Halal” farms and slaughterhouses, the first 40 lambs were exported today to the markets of Saudi Arabia, thus starting the implementation of the agreement of the Albanian Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development with this country,” said minister Krifca.
The minister also informed that the first export of red meat (lamb) to Saudi Arabia was successfully carried out by the Gramsh slaughterhouse, and the entire procedure was closely followed by the veterinary authorities.
According to her, the first lot of red meat originating from Zhulat in Gjirokastra, was administered at the licensed halal slaughterhouse in Gramsh, according to the standards and under the supervision of the veterinarians of the National Veterinary and Plant Protection Authority – after which they were packed, labeled and certified for export.
