The Minister of Defense of Serbia, Milos Vucevic, announced that by the end of 2023, the number of members of the special units of the Serbian Armed Forces will increase from 1,500 to 5,000.
Vučević also stated that such a decision came as a result of an order of the president of Serbia, Aleksandar Vucic.
“I am informing the Serbian public and the general public, that last night, General Mojsilovic, Chief of the General Staff of the Armed Forces of Serbia, received a task, an order from the President of the Republic as Commander-in-Chief, that the Armed Forces of Serbia will increase the number of members of the special units of the Armed Forces until the end of 2023, i.e. those who will be specially trained as part of the Serbian Army, from 1,500 to 5,000 members”, he stated.
Among other things, the minister said that the Serbian army will have 5,000 soldiers trained and prepared with the most modern weapons, ready to defend the homeland and to perform any task at any given time and in any part of the territory.
