Economic expert, Fatos Cocoli, says that the economic growth for our country in 2023 is expected to be around 2.4%, according to forecasts from the IMF.

For Euronews Albania, Cocoli said that the increase is expected to be small, due to the fact that inflation will continue to be high.

According to him, if in the first 6 months we will have a good water period, the economic growth can go up to 2.6%.

“It is a small increase, the government thinks it will be a little more rosy, 2.4%. Why does this happen? Because we will continue to have very high inflation. Inflation erodes economic growth, high prices erode the value of money in your pocket. Despite the fact that you may have an indexation of your salary or pension with the average level of inflation. Again we will have less consumption and that is why expectations are much lower. I think that maybe if we have a good hydrological period in the first 6 months of next year, the growth could be up to 2.6%”, he emphasized.
