Serbia is playing the card of a possible military intervention in the north of Kosovo, as the government in Prishtina warns that it has the capacity to single-handedly remove the barricades set up by the Serbs in northern Kosovo. 

Serbian Defense Minister Milosh Vučević has announced that by order of President Aleksandar Vucic, the number of special units of the Serbian Armed Forces will increase from 1,500 to 5,000 by the end of 2023.

“I am informing the Serbian public and the general public, that last night, General Mojsilovic, Chief of the General Staff of the Armed Forces of Serbia, received a task, an order from the President of the Republic as Commander-in-Chief, that the Armed Forces of Serbia will increase the number of members of the special units of the Armed Forces until the end of 2023, i.e. those who will be specially trained as part of the Serbian Army, from 1,500 to 5,000 members”, he stated.

According to the Serbian minister, the Serbian Armed Forces will be “the strongest fist that will crush the desires and bad intentions” of those who wish to harm the Serbian people.

Vucevic emphasized that this unit will be equipped with the most modern weapons and ready to perform any task at any time and in any part of the territory.

Meanwhile, the Serbian media published on Monday images of convoys of Serbian military vehicles 2 kilometers away from the border point with Kosovo, in Jarinje.
