Analyst Andi Bushati has commented on the governance of Prime Minister Edi Rama for the year 2022.

In an interview for Euronews Albania, Bushati said that today, Rama is stronger than ever, also due to the fact that the opposition is divided.

According to him, Rama has used this weakness of Albanian democracy to become more authoritarian and to seize all institutions.

“There are two ways of seeing the conclusion of this year by the Prime Minister. If we look at it from his personal interest, his power has been strengthened. Today, Edi Rama looks stronger than ever. Don’t forget that this year started with the famous January 8, when the opposition brought it to the public eye showing that it is more divided than ever. So, to govern under these conditions, personal power seems strong and inviolable. The other side of looking at this is how the governance of Edi Rama is going in relation to the public interest, not his own personal interest. Here I think we have a regression. It seems that at first sight, we have a paradox. A man with a weak opposition that does not threaten power, has the right sense of calmness to do a better job and to make an even bigger reform. But Rama has used this weakness of Albanian democracy to become more authoritarian, to capture more of the institutions”, he emphasized.
