The Albanian government is working to help olive oil producers who have not found a market to sell their products.

Asked by Euronews Albania, the Minister of Agriculture and Rural Development, Frida Krifca, stated that she is in close communication with her counterparts in Italy and France on finding a possible solution to the issue.

“We are constantly working both with the legal framework and with the regulatory framework, but also in the contacts that I have had recently and with the Italian Minister of Agriculture and the French Minister, I have expressed my willingness to further strengthen this sector through Italian technologies, also for the expansion of the markets to solve this problem”, emphasized Krifca.

“There are about 10 million roots in the whole country, which have been planted from time to time without a strategy and without a clear planning, which then lead to overproduction at certain times, which has not been accompanied simultaneously with the processing structures”, she said.

At the last meeting of the government for this year, the Council of Ministers approved the draft law on beekeeping which will regulate the entire process of beekeeping these products.

To Socialist MP Erion Brace’s criticism on the issue calling it a ‘scandal’, Krifca replied by saying that she is “open to dialogue with any Socialist MP”.
