Through a status on Facebook, the coach of the Kosovar judo team, Driton Kuka, has revealed that the Albanian presidency has refused Laura Fazliu to obtain Albanian citizenship.

As a result, a few months ago Laura did not have the opportunity to travel with her team to Azerbaijan because of her passport, KosovaPress reports.

Kuka also said that the Presidency of Albania rejected Fazliu for Albanian citizenship, calling those who do not know a young woman who is making the Albanian nation proud all over the world, ‘miserable’.

“Despite receiving approval from the Ministry of Interior and the Ministry of Education and Sports, she was rejected for Albanian citizenship by experts of the Albanian Presidency! We feel bad for anyone who does not see a girl who is making every Albanian proud anywhere in the world and who does not see this as a national interest! Laura could not travel to Azerbaijan because of her passport months ago! Thank you to the Albanian Government, but honestly, the ‘experts’ at the Presidency are miserable”, wrote Kuka on Facebook.
