The Deputy Prime Minister, as well as the Minister of Infrastructure and Energy, Belinda Balluku, has declared that the excise duty and taxes on fuel will not change.

Balluku gave the statement during a televised conversation with entrepreneurs in the field of energy production.

According to her, the Albanian government and the Ministry of Finance “have never considered affecting the excise or tax structures”.

“We had a position on the excise tax. This is a very long debate and we have clarified that we do not affect excise duties and taxes in any way. I am open in the case of Mr. Zusi when he talks about the VAT tax on the construction of panels by car manufacturers because they are subsidized and facilitated, but in terms of excise and taxes we have had a position as the Albanian government, since the beginning of the crisis and from the Ministry of Finances, which is not a matter for discussion. We have never considered affecting the excise or tax structure. However, that is why I said that it is the case that when we’re faced with a challenging year, which 2023 will also be, it’s important to have a broad discussion on issues that concern your business, as it’s undoubtedly also the case for the workforce as well”, she emphasized.
