Children all over the world waited for New Year’s Eve to receive the presents under the tree and gather around the end-of-the-year table to celebrate with their loved ones.
But not everyone can enjoy the magic of the festivities at home.
Euronews Albania was present at the pediatrics of the regional hospital of Shkodra, together with volunteers from “Eko Mendje” to cheer up the children a little during the days of the new year.
A dessert and a gift from Santa took the children’s minds off their health problems, putting a smile on theri face even for a little bit.
Marie Tokaj has been working as a nurse in the pediatric ward for 40 years. Many times she had to spend New Year’s Eve at work, but this is not a problem for her. Mirsad Basha, an activist in Shkoder, says that these types of initiatives are very important, to give smiles and hope to children who are going through a difficult health condition.
