Lawyer Besar Logo stated this Wednesday that SPAK has started an investigation into the acts of violence perpetrated against DP’s headquarters by supporters of the Reestablishment Commission on January 8, 2022.
During an interview for Euronews Albania, Logu said that the case was first examined by the district attorney’s office, which then declared a lack of jurisdiction and transferred it to SPAK.
According to him, the persons under official investigation are former Prime Minister Sali Berisha and other MPs of the Democratic Party, who were leading the Re-establishment movement at the time of the incident.
“At first, the case was initiated mainly by the District Attorney’s office, and based on information I have, the prosecutors declared a lack of jurisdiction, referring the case to SPAK. This means that we have people officially under investigation for the criminal offenses of “Destruction of property”, and “Use of pyrotechnic substances and cold weapons”.
Referring to the changes in the framework of the Justice Reform, all criminal offenses of high officials are examined by SPAK and GJKKO. Mr. Berisha will be under this investigation, as the head of the Reestablishment Commission at the time when the incident took place, but the investigation should also include other subjects such as other Democratic MPs who were also involved in the insurgence on January 8,” said Logu.
