Former president Alfred Moisu said during his interview for Euronews Albania’s “NOW with Erla Mehilli” that during his 5-year mandate he had worked hard to extinguish political conflicts.
In addition, he recalled how in the 2007 local elections, the situation was such that the elections could not be held at all, but he had gathered all the leaders of the parliamentary parties and in 24 hours they had come up with a solution.
According to Moisu, age and experience are very important for the position of the head of state, who according to him should be nothing less than the ‘Father of the Nation’.
“For me, the president should have white hair. That’s because age and experience matter. Now, simply leaving the presidency and moving on to create a party does not work. We have not seen this anywhere. Because this means that while you were in that position, you thought about what to do next. Even if you elect a 40-year-old president, you cannot have him retire afterward. So there are a few things to consider. Unfortunately, we make more compromises than come up with solutions for the future to ensure stability, development, and the continuation of democracy,” said Moisiu.
