Analyst Kreshnik Spahiu ridiculed the government’s recent decision to launch the Albania 1 and Albania 2 satellites, on the basis that they will help authorities identify the floors built without permission.

During an interview for Euronews Albania, Spahiu said that he thinks that it is not necessary to raise rockets in the air in order to identify the towers that violate construction permits. He also said that the government should be more transparent in clarifying the reasons for launching the Albania 1 and Albania 2 satellites.

“The information on why it needs the satellites is somewhat lacking and the only information that came out was from the Iranian hackers. What we were given was some very vague information related to the identification of building plots, agricultural lands and the identification of road traffic flow or two or three security issues. If they are really operational due to these issues, I think that these 6 million euros are not much. But, what makes me suspicious is the lack of transparency, you can’t just go on Facebook and simply say that these things were launched. What went up in the air, why did it go up there and how long will it stay in the air for?! I don’t think rockets should be raised in the sky to identify unlawful additional floors that get built without a permit”, said Spahiu.
