The Minister of Defense, Niko Peleshi, stated that Albania is not threatened by a military conflict, but the whole country should prepare for the worst day, as he referred to the purchase of Bayraktar drones from Turkey.

In a statement to the media, Peleshi said that he wishes that these drones are not used, as he underlined that Albania is part of NATO.

“Of course we do not wish, we do not believe, it is unlikely, there is no signal to worry about any possible involvement of any military conflict for our country. But that doesn’t mean we shouldn’t prepare for even the worst day. In this context, also due to the geopolitical shock after the war in Ukraine, we decided to enrich our air force with a modern and highly efficient capacity. I say it once again, we hope that we don’t need to use them and there is no need to use them because we are a NATO country. Albania is not threatened, Albania is unthreatened. NATO is the largest political and military alliance in the world. We are a valuable member of this alliance”, he emphasized.
