Doctor Aurora Dollenberg has stated that the new variant of the virus identified as “XBB” is becoming very dominant.

In an interview for Euronews Albania, she said that this variant is about 120% more infectious than the Omicron variant.

She further advised that countries should not repeat the mistake of two years ago, when Covid-19 first appeared in China.

“In 29 European countries, we have cases identified with the ‘XBB’ variant, which increases the fear in Europe more. In America, the number of infected is doubling and this variant is becoming very dominant. More than 75% of new cases in the US are already affected by ‘XBB’. We must not make the mistake we made two years ago. The new variant is about 120% more infectious than its predecessor Omicron. The number of deaths in the US from this virus is increasing. We cannot have a guarantee that this variant will be more specific for Europe” – she said.
